Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
We have current in-person and virtual appointment availability in Wheaton, Illinois.
Engaging with what is unconscious
Psychoanalytic or psychodynamic psychotherapy considers the role of unconscious material as fundamental within the way we each subjectively experience our lives. Often times, when mainstream psychotherapy has not worked for an individual, they are referred to a psychodynamic psychotherapist who can help provide a different way of working, thinking, and understanding one’s life.
Traditionally, psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a slower, long-term psychotherapy that can span years. Research and evidence suggests that psychoanalytic psychotherapy can be a more durable and lasting intervention for what we suffer. The therapist doesn’t reply to everything that is said and the questions that enter the consulting room are thought about over time.

How can psychoanalytic psychotherapy help you?
This is our task, to find what is helpful and potentially meaningful in approaching your life. Dreams, slips of the tongue, fantasy, and reverie are commonly expressed in this therapy to appreciate the alternative dimensions and aspects of your life. Expression, verbalizing, thinking, appreciation, feeling and wonder are the vehicles and routes that traverse the therapy.
